Every day we get asked questions like "how are you?" and "what's up?" as a way of saying "hi" or when
responding to emails and postings on Facebook or other social media sites. How often do we respond to those questions in ways that tell our friends how we
are really feeling? If you are experiencing some distress and are not sure why, or what to do about it, take a look at these videos provided by MTV.

Counseling
We believe that everyone could benefit from counseling from an objective, knowledgeable, and caring person at some time. For some of us, this time occurs during the college years. The Counseling Service's goal is to help students maximize their sense of well being as well as their academic, personal and social growth.
Counseling Services, which is part of the Student Health Center, is staffed by three licensed Ph.D. psychologists and one social worker with specialized training in college health issues. Counseling Services provides a variety of services to meet your needs, including (but not limited to) individual and couples therapy, faculty/staff consultation, and learning disability testing.

Some facts:
§ Many students find that just scheduling one or two appointments helps them feel better and more confident in helping themselves.
§ Students report that the best thing about counseling is learning that you are not the "only one."
§ Students report a high level of satisfaction with the services they receive.
§ All contacts and sessions are held in the strictest confidence. You will need to sign a release of information for any information to be disclosed to any party. The only exception is if you are in danger of hurting yourself or others.
§ What you learn in therapy is what you practice outside of therapy on your own. Research demonstrates that patients who carry out assignments in between sessions get better faster.
